ABOUT
Jumalauta Snowboards celebrates the rich heritage of Finnish snowboarding with a commitment to crafting high-quality, environmentally conscious gear. Founded in Helsinki in 2023, the company pays homage to Finland’s legacy as a powerhouse in the global snowboarding scene. Each board embodies the resilience and determination of Finnish sisu, delivering durability, performance, and style to riders of all levels.
As underdogs in the competitive snowboarding market, Jumalauta stands out with its dedication to simplicity, sustainability, and excellence. With our handmade boards, we aim to inspire riders to push their limits while honoring the heritage of Finnish craftsmanship. Jumalauta Snowboards is more than a gear provider – it’s a tribute to the snowboarding community.

STORY
Jumalauta Snowboards was born from a combination of passion, craftsmanship, and the resilience of Finnish sisu. Our founder, Oscar “Occo” Komonen, reflects on a journey shaped by decades of carpentry, snowboarding, and life’s unexpected turns. A serious hand injury in 2020 became a moment of reflection that sparked the idea for Jumalauta. Combining his woodworking expertise with a lifelong love for snowboarding, Oscar set out to create a brand that truly represents Finnish snowboarding culture.
Unlike traditional snowboard company origin stories, this one is grounded not in epic mountain adventures but in the desire to design boards that embody the heart and soul of Finland – a country without mountains but renowned for its urban riding culture and world-class snowboarders.
SUSTAINABILITY
At Jumalauta Snowboards, sustainability and performance go hand in hand through the innovative Pure Heart Tech. This approach prioritizes the natural properties of wood, specifically Finnish-grown birch and aspen, to create durable and high-performing snowboards without relying on environmentally harmful materials like glass or carbon fiber. The cores are made with 85% aspen for flexibility and 15% birch for strength, a combination that embodies the resilience and quality of Finnish wood.
Complementing the all-natural core is a bi-axial flax fiber reinforcement sourced from Swiss innovators Bcomp. Unlike traditional glass fiber, flax absorbs vibrations, offering riders a smoother, more comfortable experience on uneven terrain. This unique material also provides a progressive flex, enabling effortless control during casual runs while delivering robust support for more demanding rides. Beyond performance, our use of sustainable flax and locally sourced wood significantly reduces the environmental footprint of our boards. By crafting each snowboard with care and conscience, we offer a product that seamlessly balances sustainability with superior riding quality.
